Story behind the product~ Kudu males have long, spiral horns. Lesser kudus are found in acacia and thornbush in arid savannas, greater kudus are found in woodlands and bushlands. The greater kudu's horns are spectacular and can grow as long as 1.8 m, creating over 2 graceful twists. The outer part of the horn has been used in the construction of this lamp base.
We strive to source our pieces with as much background knowledge as possible. All of the suppliers we work with collect animals that have died naturally either on farms or in the wild. Others preserve the way of life that their culture has thrived on by hunting and trapping, using all parts of the animal in the process. Bones and skulls from animals are a byproduct of the farming industry, as well as these cultural practices.
The base of lamp is solid wood covered in black ostrich leather.
Country of origin~ South Africa.
Materials~ Ethically sourced natural Kudu Horn, solid timber base, black steel pole.
Dimensions~ 20cm DIA (base) x 65cm H.
All measurements are approximate.
Each piece has been intricately created by hand. If there are small flaws it is a sign and proof of human touch, making each and every piece unique with tiny little differences.
Note about shipping ~ Freight is not calculated at checkout as we will individually source the best price for your order. Freight quotes are based on volume of stock and destination.
