Mask ~ Baule Large
Story behind the product ~ The Baule mask comes from the Akan people of the Ivory Coast. Adopting the sculptural and masking traditions from their neighbours, the Senufo and Yaure people. These masks are worn only in dances intended to entertain and have no ritualistic function. Looked upon as portraits of particular individuals, especially brave men of the village taking great care in engraving the patterns on the foreheads, cheeks and mouth.

Each piece has been intricately carved by hand. If there are small flaws it is a celebration of 'made by hand', making each and every piece unique with tiny little differences.
