Story behind the product~ Masks play an important role in the ceremonies of the Bwa living in Burkina Faso. Carved and painted wood with zoomorphic and geometric designs, Bwa Bobo plank mask are worn during initiation ceremonies. The key to understanding plank mask forms is that these masks are not representational, but embody supernatural forces that act on behalf of the Bwa clans that use the masks.
Each one is a complete one off, no two are the same. Fabulous sculptural piece for the corner of a room, entry way or wall mount for an amazing eye catching art piece.
