Binga Basket ~ Full Colour
Story behind the product ~ Traditionally Binga Baskets have been used to collect and winnow grain by the Tonga people (also called Batonga people) of Zambia and Zimbabwe. The villagers continue to use these pieces throughout their daily lives, but also gain incredible financial contributions to their communities.
Binga Baskets are handwoven using a simple over and under weave. Prior to weaving, some of the palm fronds are organically dyed using plant based substances to create the darker colours. Each Binga Basket pattern is unique with no two ever the same. Each one is a work of art by the artisan who creates it. Designs will be selected at random.
