Authentic Clay Zulu Pot : NO.8
Story behind the product ~ Zulu Clay Pots are uniquely handcrafted in South Africa. They are voluptuous and earthy and look stunning in any tribal, coastal or contemporary home. These pots were traditionally used for brewing, cooking meat, storing water and grain and for drinking sour milk in the traditional Zulu way as has been done for centuries.
They are attractively round with an unornamented lip, and the most accomplished pieces have very thin, evenly worked walls and a smooth, glossy surface. Each one is hand coiled and then burnished and fired in an open pit. These pots are often used for brewing, cooking meat, storing water and grain and for drinking sour milk in the traditional Zulu way as has been done for centuries. The patterns and decoration on the pots vary according to family and region.
Zulu pots have moved from mainstream usage, to the high-end world of handcrafted collectables. This pot is a one off art piece.
