Story behind the product~ Authentic mudcloth from Mali, Africa, is a handmade Malian cotton fabric traditionally dyed with fermented mud. It has an important place in traditional Malian culture and has, more recently, become a symbol of Malian cultural identity. Mudcloth is exported worldwide for use in fashion, fine art and decoration. In traditional production, men weave the cloth and women dye it, creating patterns that are rich in cultural significance. On narrow looms, strips of cotton fabric are woven and then hand stitched into larger cloths, measuring about 1M (W) and 1.5M long. From those cloths comes our beautiful range of cushions ! Each one different to the next.
