Masai Necklace (B)

Small, flat beaded collar with wire stringing and cowhide dividers; rows of small same size beads; orange inner row followed by ten rows of alternate all blue or all white beads; one red bead row; and an outer border row of green beads; cowhide dividers at center bottom and each side; cowhide strips at top opening with coiled wire hook closure.Masai girls begin wearing a beaded collar before puberty, or when they become girlfriends of warriors.  More collars are added after marriage.  Numerous collars of various sizes are worn together and provide visual attraction as a woman moves.  Girls and women make their own collars and other beaded adornment after their chores are finished.
